Do you charge fees for consulting?

The initial consulting meeting with a client will be provided at no cost. All subsequent and follow-up visits will require financial support from the client. Individual colleges, departments and/or programs may choose to make annual contributions to support CSCU to provide their faculty with continuing access to all CSCU consultants in one form or another. The units who have provided, to various extent, such support for their researchers are the Division of Nutritional Sciences, the Colleges of Human Ecology and Agriculture and Life Sciences and, the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.

What are your consulting hours?

We are available for appointments Monday-Friday from 9:00 to 5:00. We have drop-in hours Monday-Friday from 1:30-2:00 for questions that take fewer than ten minutes to answer.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

The first appointment is usually spent explaining the study and outlining the statistical problem. Most problems take more than one appointment to resolve.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring anything that will help the consultant understand your research design or statistical questions. This often includes a data file on floppy or zip disk, a research article, and/or an abstract of your research proposal.

Do you provide consulting for researchers in other colleges at Cornell?

Clients who are not part of a unit that provides statistical support to their researchers can have an initial consultation at no charge. They can make arrangements for subsequent and follow-up visits. Individual arrangements will be discussed on a one-on-one basis.

Do you provide services for alumni and people outside of Cornell?

Yes, individual arrangements will be discussed on a one-on-one basis.

Do you run statistical analysis for people at Cornell and outside of Cornell?

CSCU also considers contract work, including performing statistical analysis, for clients both internal and external to Cornell. Needs, availability and costs of this service are discussed on a project-by-project basis.
